Qigong - a genuine way to good health and performance

Qigong, also written Qi Gong or Chi Kung, is an easy-to-learn exercise system based on the foundations of Chinese medicine. It can be used both as a preventive and strenghening measure, as well as to promote the healing process. This is why it is equally suitable for ambitious athletes, professionals and executives in stressful situations or for those with health problems or chronic diseases.

The overall aim of the exercises is to develop and strengthen the Qi, the life energy. In classic, Chinese medicine, abundant flowing Qi is the essence of a blossoming health, longevity, internal force and mental clarity.

There are numerous Qigong exercises. Some have been grouped early on into series of exercises. The 18 Lohan Hands or the 12 Sinew Metamorphosis for example. One can also group the various Qigong exercises into categories according to their main benefit such as: medical Qigong, spiritual Qigong, Warrior Qigong, Buddhist Qigong, Taoist Qigong, etc.

What all genuine Qigong has in common is that it trains holistically the body, the energy and the mind. For various reasons Qigong is today often practiced as a physical gymnastic exercise only, which reduces the benefits to the ones of a physcial exercise as well.

In our school we would like to teach you the richness of genuine Qigong that:

  • promotes health both preventivly as well as for convalescence
  • increases one's internal force and energy in daily life
  • brings balance, relaxation and allows to overcome stress.
  • improves the physical and mental performance.
  • trains body, Qi (energy) and mind.

While the name "Qigong" is recent, the art itself is ancient. The legend tells that the Indian monk Bodhidharma (Damo) visited the Shaolin monastery in 527 A.D. He found the monks in such a bad, physical condition that they were unable to mediatate and cultivate. So he taught them exercises. Amongst them the 18 Lohan Hands. Later on these exercises have been developed further and new exercises created.
